Wheel 2: Large Bowl Mastery: Throwing Tall and Wide with Emily Rarity
Overview
5 Mondays 6:30-8:30pm, 8/17-9/14
Ages 16 and up are welcome
Cost: $175 + $35 materials (all materials are included)
Intermediate and Advanced wheel throwers are welcome! Students should have experience with throwing on the pottery wheel, including centering, pulling up walls, and trimming.
This advanced-level wheel class is designed for students who are ready to scale up their work and refine their forms. Focusing on bowls made with 5+ pounds of clay, students will learn techniques for centering larger amounts of clay, pulling tall walls, and creating cohesive curves. We will work on developing strong and functional open bowl forms.
About the Instructor:
Emily Rarity is a Virginia native and ceramic artist with a BFA in Ceramic Art from Alfred University (2019). Her work is influenced by early American pottery and is drawn to its simple, functional forms, which are inherently timeless. Emily believes that the pottery wheel is a magical place. The clay responds instantly to your hands, and every small touch makes a difference in your piece. She hopes her students will experience a sense of connection and joy with the clay as they create in the studio. She is excited to be a part of your pottery wheel journey.
Class Cancellations and Absence
Refunds minus a 10% or $20 processing fee (whichever is lower) are offered until 14 days before the start of class. After that, we do not offer refunds. We don’t offer refunds for missed classes, so please be sure you can attend all sessions of a class, or that you are okay with missing any that you’ll be away for. You can find out more on our studio policies page.
