Exploring Indigo with M Greenwald
Overview
Saturday, 7/12, 10am-5pm
Ages 16 and up are welcome
Cost: $100 + $15 materials
Beginners and returners welcome!
In this class we will explore the alchemy and chemistry of the indigo vat. This fermented dyebath works differently than any other natural dye technique, and we will spend the day learning about the history of indigos around the world while working with resists, stencils, blocks, and stitching to create a variety of dyed fabrics. Each student will leave with a vat of their own to work with, as well as samples of the techniques explored.
