  • Beginners and returners welcome!

Get creative with clay and fabric in this fun, hands-on class! You’ll learn how to handbuild a beautiful soup bowl and sew a coordinating bowl cozy—all in a single afternoon. No prior experience is required. Julie and Kathy will provide all the materials you need, including sewing machines, fabric, clay, and glazes.

About the Instructor:

Julie Beard Foster is an educator first and foremost. Although she has taught in local public education systems and college settings with students of all abilities, her love of clay and American Sign Language surface as her primary dance partners. She has taught pottery classes and workshops at BRCC in the Workforce and Continuing Education Program. She enjoys wheel work and handbuilding functional items. Exploration of glaze combinations and surface textures are a passion.

Garment sewing has been Kathy’s passion since her teen years with a side of home decor, bag making, quilting ventures, & occasional fancy-dancy dresses.  After retiring from elementary teaching in 2014, She has been teaching sewing to kids & adults at Ragtime Fabrics. Other thread sports include knitting & crochet. She loves spending time with friends & family, especially grandkids!

Class Cancellations and Absence

Refunds minus a 10% or $20 processing fee (whichever is lower) are offered until 14 days before the start of class. After that, we do not offer refunds. We don’t offer refunds for missed classes, so please be sure you can attend all sessions of a class, or that you are okay with missing any that you’ll be away for.
