Throwing and Altering- On and Off the Wheel with Jon McMillan
Overview
Saturday, 8/15, 10-12pm and Sunday, 8/16, 1-3pm
Ages 16 and up are welcome
Cost: $140 + $10 materials (all materials are included)
Great for anyone who is able to center and throw and wants to take their skills to the next level and try new techniques.
In this two day hands-on workshop with special guest instructor Jon McMillan, Assistant Professor of Ceramics at JMU, students will learn techniques for altering thrown pots, both on and off the wheel. For each session, Jon will demonstrate multiple altering techniques, including cutting, stretching, darting, and more. Then students will have a chance to get on the wheel and try out some ideas with Jon's help. Expand your skill set and learn new ways to create unique pottery and sculptural ceramic objects.
We will throw & alter pieces in this class. Glazing costs are included--members may glaze their pieces independently, and we will work with any non-members to schedule a glazing day that works for them.
