6 week class: $200 + $35 materials
8 week class: $250 + $35 materials
Great for anyone who has taken a class before and is able to center and throw a cylinder but wants to take their skills to the next level and try new techniques.
Join this class to learn techniques for throwing functional pottery for your kitchen. LP will demonstrate how to make a utensil holder, nesting bowls, salt cellar, cookie jar, spoon rest, sponge holder, and soap dispenser with a fitted spout. Along the way, you'll learn how to create well-fitting lids, account for clay shrinkage, and troubleshoot trimming forms with narrow openings. By the end of the class, you'll have a kitchen set of your own—or a collection of handmade gifts perfect for the holiday season.

LP Keller fell in love with the Friendly City when she studied art at JMU. In 2016, she earned a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Ceramics. She is a certified art teacher in Virginia and used to teach in Harrisonburg City Public Schools. She has been teaching with FCCAC from the beginning and has loved getting to know this growing clay community. She loves seeing how her students express themselves through clay.
LP creates functional pottery designed to feel good in your hands and bring a touch of modern elegance to your home. Her pottery is an invitation to slow down, hold something made by hand, and reconnect through everyday rituals. She is a mother, a baker, a ceramicist, an art teacher, and the woman behind LPMpottery.
Refunds minus a 10% or $20 processing fee (whichever is lower) are offered until 14 days before the start of class. After that, we do not offer refunds. We don’t offer refunds for missed classes, so please be sure you can attend all sessions of a class, or that you are okay with missing any that you’ll be away for.
