Wheel throwers should have experience with throwing on the pottery wheel, including centering at least 5 lbs. of clay, pulling up walls, and trimming. Handbuilders welcome!
Join Karis as she walks through the steps of making a functional lamp out of clay. This specialized class will focus on lamp forms, both wheel thrown and built by hand. Karis will provide handouts and give a demonstration to show everyone how to wire their lamps once they have been glazed and fired. Wheel throwers and handbuilders are welcome!

About the Instructor:
Karis Barry has been making a living as a potter for over 40 years, selling at art fairs and through galleries. She took an adult education class in MA one winter and bought a pottery wheel before she could even throw a good pot, thinking it would be a hobby. After taking more classes at some museum schools in the Boston area, she bought a kiln and hasn't looked back.
She has exhibited her work in galleries and participated in craft shows throughout the US, but is now enjoying sharing her knowledge about throwing pots on a wheel… and getting inspired by her students.
Refunds minus a 10% or $20 processing fee (whichever is lower) are offered until 14 days before the start of class. After that, we do not offer refunds. We don’t offer refunds for missed classes, so please be sure you can attend all sessions of a class, or that you are okay with missing any that you’ll be away for.
